Youth concerned about climate change

Recent research by the Red Cross shows that young people have expressed more concern about climate change since the beginning of the coronavirus crisis. One-fifth of the young people surveyed indicated that they are now more concerned about the climate than six months ago. A remarkable 73% of young people up to 35 years old are concerned about global warming in general.

However, the coronavirus crisis does not seem to have had a direct impact on the climate concerns of all young people. For 21% of respondents, concerns have indeed increased. Many young people find it worrying that climate change seems to be receiving less attention due to the coronavirus crisis. Moreover, during the pandemic, they are increasingly seeing the impact of humans on nature, such as cleaner air due to reduced air traffic.

Not only are young people concerned, but they also see a role for themselves in the fight against climate change. The research shows that a significant portion of them are already taking action to improve the environment and that they are willing to adapt their lifestyles for a greener planet. Climate change is no longer seen as a problem of the future; more than nine out of ten young people understand that its effects are already noticeable now.

At Plant N Boom, we share this concern and emphasize the importance of planting trees as concrete action against climate change. Trees play a crucial role in reducing CO2 in the atmosphere and promoting a healthy planet. Together, we can make a difference.
