IMCD: Partnering with Plant N Boom for a sustainable future

A Christmas greeting from the forests of Sierra Leone!

This year puts IMCD an important step toward a greener future. For every new employee who joins IMCD's team, a tree will be planted in partnership with Plant N Tree, an organization dedicated to restoring our planet by building forests in Sierra Leone.

Impact of collaboration

So far, this collaboration has resulted in the planting of 30 trees, accounting for the compensation of as much as 15 tons of CO2. But the impact extends beyond carbon offsets. The trees also provide employment opportunities and support biodiversity. Through this partnership, IMCD is not only helping the planet, but also contributing to the well-being of local communities in Sierra Leone.

The crucial role of forests

Eamonn Hanson, founder of Plant N Tree, emphasizes the importance of forests to our health and well-being. "Forests play a vital role for our planet," he explains. He refers to an article from BOS+ explaining that approximately 12.5% of our medicine comes from forests, especially from tropical rain forests. About half of the plant compounds used in medicines come from these forests. "This underscores how essential forests are to human health," Hanson said.
